Obituary of Frances Louise McCarthy
Frances Louise McCarthy, 96, of Freehold, passed away on Sunday, January 14th, 2024 at Brightview Senior Living in Wayne, PA with her children by her side. Frances (aka Babe, Mom, Grandma, GreatGrammie, Aunt Babe) was the 3rd child of George Turner and Helen Dalley Turner, born in Neshanic Station, NJ. She resided in Freehold for the past 63 years, until coming out to Brightview 7 weeks ago to be near her family. Her last weeks were filled with many visits and parties with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Fran worked at Foodarama Supermarkets for many years in the main office and has lifelong friends from those days. She traveled the world with her life partner, George, extensively as can be seen in her hundreds of photo albums. They wintered in Treasure Island, Florida and had many visitors every year.
Fran was predeceased by her fiancé George Lawrie in 2012, brother Douglas; sister Blanche and daughters Jeanne in 1967 and Kathleen in 1994. She is survived by her sister Margaret; son William of Freehold; daughter Carol DeFazio (Turby Wright) of Glen Mills, PA; grandchildren Jeanna Ventura (Rusty) of Wayne, PA, Jeffrey DeFazio (Karen) of Downingtown, PA, Chenin Duclos of Somerville, MA; step-granddaughter Elizabeth Blackburn (Ryan) of Florida; great-grandchildren Christopher and Anna Ventura, Jayson and Carolina DeFazio, and Becket Maiden, several beloved nieces and nephews and her best friends Pat and Mike VanOver.
Fran was a beautiful, loving, fun, feisty and amazing woman. She loved a good time, but especially loved being around her adoring family. We are so blessed to have had her as such a big part of our lives for all these years. She will be truly missed.
