Obituary of Louis G Ricciardi, Jr.
Louis G. Ricciardi, Jr., 61, of Morganville, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023. Louis was born in Brooklyn, NY, and eventually settled in Morganville, NJ. He was employed as an attorney for Citigroup in Rutherford, NJ, for 42 years.
Louis loved to spend time with his family, and was a family man first and foremost. He lived and loved completely, and there was nothing disingenuous about him. He was always true to himself and would always find the good in people and in any situation. He loved to say, “Never confuse kindness with weakness.” He knew a true man could be strong, while remaining sincere and kind.
Louis loved to travel with his family, and through the years they traveled as much as they could. Their favorite vacation spots were Turks and Caicos and Cape May. He was a planner—he would book his next vacation as soon as he returned home to have something to look forward to.
He loved coaching each of his three children, especially in baseball and softball, and has 5 championship banners hanging in St. Gabriel’s gym from his days coaching CYO basketball. As a result, he couldn’t walk around the neighborhood without meeting kids and families who loved him.
He had a passion for the Yankees, Devils, and, most especially, the Jets. He was a season ticket holder for over 30 years, and loved to take family trips to road games.
He always had a special place in his heart for his Brooklyn neighborhood and friends, many of whom he knew for a lifetime.
He met his wife Amy when they were 23 and 20, and from day one they never looked back. They were married for 33 years, mostly filled with wonderful times, but when the bad times came, which they always do, they faced them together and always found strength in each other. Most importantly, they saw life the same way and treasured their children. They had the same sense of humor, and he always said Amy was his best audience because she laughed at all his jokes.
They lost a newborn daughter in 1994, and found happiness again when Bobby was born a year later. Four years after that, they welcomed Luke, and five years later, welcomed Bella from Guatemala. This formed a cohesive group that always stuck together and knew that as long as they had each other, all would be well.
Louis was predeceased by his daughter Amylou, his father Louis Sr. , his mother-in-law Claire Lippi and sister-in-law Paula. He is survived by his mother Margaret, loving and devoted spouse Amy; sons Bobby and Luke, and daughter Bella of Morganville, NJ; sisters Vera Zachman (James) of Bedminster, NJ, and Roseanne Ricciardi of Brooklyn, NY, and brother Richard of Jackson, NJ.
