Louis- I am so consumed with grief that it’s taken me awhile to compose a few words of some special memories we shared over the years. We shared a birthday almost 5 years apart to the day . I first met you when mom brought u home from the hospital and let me hold you- it was the first time I held an infant and became obsessed with fussing over you - it was like having a real live doll .Then I remember Dad asking me to teach you to ride a bicycle on Shore Road as he was not able to run alongside you. We were close but became much closer when I lived at home , Rich was married and Vera moved to NJ . You were in law school and you and I would share a pipins night out or suishi.
We would talk about your girlfriend Amy and share wonderful conversations. I’d make you French toast or eggs and you’d tell me to keep them coming..
You were an amazing student - bright, conscientious, articulate evidenced by your passing the bar exams on your first shot. As a husband, Dad , son and brother I always marveled at your ability to wear all those hats to such perfection- how did you do it all. You had a wonderful support system with a loving and caring wife, Amy, who made you happy and became your soulmate.
Your children often teased you but deep down the love and admiration for you was always apparent.
As your sister your advice, listening skills and fairness helped me through some difficult and personal times .
I will never forget your wise counsel to me on many occasions. As a son your devotion to our mom spoke volumes to me about your deep underlying love and respect to a parent even when times were challenging.
I will miss you forever and look forward to our meeting again. My heart is truly broken. Love your sister, Ro

There are people that you just enjoyed to pick up the phone and talk to - Lou was definitely one of those. I met Lou after joining the Velocity team in 2020, starting to work with him in a group setting and over this past year and a half, more one on one. Reading the memories, I can only echo what was said about him: talented, uplifting, future-focused, positive, influencing and overall, someone that just made you feel grateful to work with. I am very thankful to Lou for not what he did in life; but how. Pure in spirit and forever in memory. Many prayers for his family and friends: he was a true light and may you feel him in your hearts, on your path, always.

There are people you meet that will alter the trajectory of your life forever. Lou was that person for me and for many others. He hired me at Citigroup almost 2 decades ago, and under his management and training I found a home in the financial services industry. Lou was so smart - and his counsel and guidance sophisticated and balanced. You were never interrupting Lou when you knocked on his door to ask a question - even when it was well past 5pm. Lou was a wonderful and natural mentor and coach to his team of attorneys - and so it was no surprise when he translated that skill to on-the-field coaching with Luke, Bobby and Bella. Lou led by example - by always acting with honor and integrity, and maintaining his exceptional character through the best of times, but more importantly, through challenging times. One could not help but stand taller and with more confidence when you stood next to Lou. Lou's son, Luke, and I work at the same company. We had lunch about 2 months ago. Afterwards, as we were getting ready to leave, I said to Luke that this was the best lunch I have had in a very long time as I felt like I just had lunch with his dad (Lou). What an amazing legacy in Luke, Bobby and Bella. I will be forever grateful for having had the privilege of knowing Lou. Rest in peace, my friend.

During my tenure 17 year tenure at Citi it has been my honor to have had Lou as a Colleague, friend, mentor, and fellow long suffering Jets fan... his commitment to excellence, professionalism, wit, humor during difficult times has always been an inspiration to me; Lou never was too busy to provide guidance on either work or life, his warmth was that of a big brother.
My deepest heartfelt condolences to the Ricciardi Family, due to a positive COVID diagnosis, I was not able to personally honor him today but I will always uphold and carry on the level of excellence and wisdom he imparted to me as a mentor and colleague.
God Bless him always, my thoughts and love are with the Ricciardi's.
Faithfully yours,

I chatted with Lou on my first day at Citi some six years ago and from that very moment, I knew he was a Mensch, a lovely guy who would do anything to help his colleagues. Over the years as we both work in market data we would speak/email every week and during that time we became good friends. We would chat on every subject from family to politics, religion and always with good grace and a sense of humour, he even shared with me a photo of him on Spring Break as a teenager, I think the only one remaining where he still had hair! He was so knowledgeable on his subject matter and despite being at Citi as I used to say two years longer than God has been alive, still fought tooth and nail to achieve the best results for the business. I was waiting for him to recover some strength before giving him a call to wish him and his loved ones a lovely Christmas. That opportunity is now lost and I am the poorer for it. To all his family my condolences and wishing you all a long life.

I was lucky enough to work with Lou at Citi, though not day-to-day. I consulted him on many technology legal issues before technology legal issues were even a thing. We shared our birth year, our Brooklyn roots, our Italian heritage and our responsibilities in Legal and Compliance. As we say in Brooklyn, “Lou was good people.” I really didn’t know him well, but I knew that much. He had integrity, he was always open to intellectual challenges and entertained as many questions as I could ask. It was a pleasure to work with him and my condolences go out to his loving family. More than anything, you knew that was what Lou held dearest. I pray for your strength during this difficult time.

Lou Ricciardi was an exceptional person. He was the epitome of quiet strength and confidence in his many roles; son, brother, husband, father, uncle, friend and colleague. Lou was one of the first lawyers hired on Wall Street to understand how important technology would be to the future of the financial services industry. Lou was a great lawyer, and a pioneer in the law. He broke new ground in the field of technology law with a focus on data which is now the foundation of everything yet to come in AI. I hired him to be part of a ground breaking team at Salomon Brothers and was lucky enough to work with him for over 20 years. We became dear and trusted friends. As a lawyer, he coached other lawyers (including me), spotted legal talent and nurtured the careers of others. Lou was an optimist, strong and steady, reliable and abundantly kind to me and to others in the middle of what was a fast-paced, complex, and energy-charged environment. His life, his work and his friendship are a blessing to me. I will never forget his laugh. I imagine him laughing still.

So true, Vivian. It was 2005 or 2006 when Lou said to me 'some day, Phyll, its just all going to be about data - data will be the ultimate commodity/product.' Fast forward 10 years or so and I reminded him how right he was back then. No surprise - Lou was usually right!

Lou has been not only a close colleague but an amazing friend for nearly twenty years. Especially over the past ten or so years that we co-covered the Citi Velocity business, we spoke nearly every day. He was an incredibly talented lawyer who worked tirelessly to deliver the best advice and counsel as possible for his clients. We’ve also gotten to know so much about each other’s families and interests outside of work. Whenever he was in the New York office, we always made a point to get lunch, coffee or even just an in person meeting. He was deeply compassionate and had the highest integrity imaginable. He will be profoundly missed. – John Cocchiarella

To my baby brother Louis,
Words alone cannot describe how I feel about you. You always had the passion for life. As kids we did so many things together. We played baseball on a makeshift field in the park, we delivered newspapers together, we kept statistics on every baseball game we played, we worked together at Uncle Pete’s store and we even slept together. Even though you were 3 1/2 yrs younger than me, you were always my best friend. As we got older, we went to the same high school, and college. Your path took you to law school but we both ended up on Wall Street working for the same firm. Once I moved up, I had them hire you to replace me. As the years went by, you continued to progress with your career. Our lives were always intertwined as on my wedding day you met your future wife, Amy, who knew Paula. Your anniversary is the same exact date as mine, and your oldest son was born on the same day my oldest daughter was born. We both coached our kids in their sports and everyone knew who we were.
You were the person I always admired and looked up to. When life threw me curveballs , you were there to help me and my family pick up the pieces. You treated my kids like they were your own. Your love for everyone especially mom and our sisters and Amy’s family is second to none. Louis, you lived life to the fullest as evidenced by your faith, your passion for the Jets, Yankees and Devils . You had respect for everyone and you believed in God, hard work and family. You were loved by so many and My friends became your friends. They all loved you. They loved your passion, sense of humor and booming voice.
Louis, you leave such a void and I will miss you terribly. I love you and please rest easy as I will be there for Amy and your children. Sleep easy and until we meet again….

Coach Lou,
I will never forget your love for baseball and excitement through every game and championship we won. You led our team with respect and enthusiasm for the game. I will never forget treating all of us for ice-cream after winning the Memorial Tournament. You always showed how proud you were for our accomplishments and picked us up whenever we lost. You will never be forgotten for the great coach and man you led your life!! You will be missed!! Rest in peace!!

The Carelli family wishes to express our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the Ricciardis. We had many good times with the Jersey Crew. My heart goes out to his family and friends. Lou and all the coaches treated John and us like family. We had many great coaches over the years but John was particularly fond of Lou.

Louie and I have been friends for over 50 years and he was one of the best people I've ever known. To say that he was a great husband, father, son , brother and friend is an understatement. He was thoughtful and kind, caring and humble. He always thought of others before himself and was a true friend. I am so grateful for all of the times we had together and will miss you deeply. I am so sad and I don't have the words to express how I feel.
Dear God, please take my friend Louie into your arms and give him the peace that he deserves. May his soul and all the souls of the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God rest in peace Amen.

I have so many memories of my baby brother. I remember playing outside when our babysitter opened the window from our first floor apt in Brooklyn and yelled out 'it is a boy' and I said shucks and continued to play. I was 6 years old. From that time onward, Lou and I were always close (as all the siblings were and will be)...he was smart and quick and funny and could even make my dad laugh which wasn't easy at times. I would always watch his Little League games and root him on. When he asked me to be his Confirmation Godmother, I was thrilled and we both took that Sacrament seriously. Louis loved family and would do anything for anyone--he was a great dad and great son but I want everyone to know that he especially touched my heart during the turbulent times in my life--always caring, loving and willing to do anything -including listening. His kids are a testament to both he and Amy as being great parents. I love you Lou and will always be here for the family . Like my Jimmy said, we will 'catch up' to you soon as he says you are happy beyond comprehension in heaven seeing God's face.
