Obituary of Marcia Delores Gordon
Marcia Delores Gordon was born in Kingston, Jamaica, on September 10, 1946. Marcia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who touched the lives of many with her warmth, kindness, and generosity. Marcia was the daughter of Lois Merle McDonald and Gladstone Ivanhoe Palmer and grew up in Jamaica with her siblings Marlene, Marjorie, Margaret (Big Maggie), Carol, and Gladstone.
After working for the family business, Montrose Printery, in Jamaica and completing her education, she moved to England to join her love, Rudolph Gordon, who was serving in the British Army. Their journey together took them to Malta, where their first child, Paul, was born, then back to England, where daughters Margaret (Little Maggie) and Samantha were born. The family eventually settled in Brooklyn, New York, where sons Leo and Michael were born.
In Brooklyn, Marcia became known as "Mama Gordon" on Montgomery Street. Her loving and caring nature was evident in her relationships with family, friends, and neighbors. She was a talented cook, known for her delicious oxtail and stew peas with rice, and she generously shared her meals with everyone around her. Marcia was also a skilled jewelry maker and enjoyed watching Westerns in her spare time.
Marcia had a passion for plants and gardening, which brought beauty and life to her surroundings. As a childcare provider, she cared for one family's children for over 15 years, impacting their lives. Her compassionate spirit and dedication to her loved ones made her the connective tissue of her family and friends.
Marcia is survived by her Husband Rudolph Gordon four children, Margaret Gordon Joyner and her husband Miles H. Joyner III, Samantha Gordon, Leo Gordon, and his wife Vindha Gordon, and Michael Gordon, as well as her grandchildren Tenisha Joyner, Maurice Gordon, Tishana Adams, Tiara Gordon, Taquana Gordon, Nhya Gordon, Jaida Gordon and Enyce Gordon, Nevaeh Gordon and four great-grandchildren Tristen Gordon, William Adams, Noelle Adams and Skyy Smith, and a host of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her son Paul Gordon. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her loving heart and the joy she brought to all who knew her.
May Marcia's memory live on through the love and kindness she shared with everyone she encountered. We will all remember her warm smile, infectious laughter, and how she made everyone feel welcome and loved.
Marcia's legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched, the friendships she nurtured, and the love she shared with her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will carry her memory in their hearts, and they will strive to honor her by living lives filled with love, kindness, and compassion, just as she did.
As we remember Marcia Delores Gordon, let us take comfort in knowing that her spirit remains with us, and that her love continues to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to know her. Though she may no longer be with us physically, her memory will live on in the hearts and minds of all who loved her.
