Summer Time in Brooklyn
Cornmeal porridge and Ovaltineeee
My grandma loves me
‘Biggie!’
Screams from the kitchen…
Notes of vanilla in the air did I mention
Chattering and laughs with my grandma during summer mornings were the best.
But…..
Them Plastic covered couches in the summer were a pest
Gpa taking me on long walks till my knees fall off
Domino’s at the bar till he get smokers cough
Stopping at every corner store for a freezer pop to walk the next 4 blocks
Summer time in Brooklyn was like heaven unlocked.
After being out all night we come home to a meal.
Curry goat, YES my favorite
Grandma knows how I feel, and boy does she heal.
100 brush strokes through my hair every night before bed
Love yourself or no one will is what she said.
Grandma showed me what a strong woman was and she was stronger than 100 men,
God ima miss summer time in Brooklyn.
Meme, I love you.

Of all the memories of Marcia the most prominent was her attentiveness to detail in cleaning. I remember her constantly cleaning with a smile. I was baffled at first but one day in New York she told me Cleanliness is a part of Godliness and I understood. Rest In Power my sister!

My sister Marcia was the eldest of the family. She took care of the family like a mother. She was very much loved and a beauty inside and out, a very kind hearted and humble person. She loved kids and was a hard working person. She could never stay still, she would always have to be doing something. She’s Jack of all trades and master of all. She liked to cook and bake. Both her and her husband, Junior, were always in the kitchen making seafood, Jamaican food, or baking bread pudding. No one would go to Marcia’s house and not eat or take home a doggy bag. The first thing she would ask when you entered was “did you eat?”because she would have food on the stove. Marcia, I’m going to mostly miss the togetherness we shared with the family; playing games, telling jokes and childhood stories, and the laughter we got from the childhood behavior. You are one in a million and you are the most sweetest sister anyone could ask for. You will be missed but certainly not forgotten. Rest in peace sis.

It was a pleasure growing up with Marcia. I remember as a little boy going to the coronation market at 6:00 am on a Saturday morning, just me and her. When we returned home, I helped her to set up the stove for baking sweet potato pudding. These are memories I will always cherish. A big cousin, who took care of me and watched out for me. Her kindness and beautiful smile, lives with me forever. RIP Cuz, until we meet again.

Aunty Marcia you were my favorite aunt to run to. I remember your beautiful smile and kind heart. I can't thank you enough and my parents for teaching me not to be judgemental and help those in need. You always helped those less fortunate with food and clothing, You always gave them whichever with a warm smile.
I am now in a field of being as kind and intelligent as you were. It truly breaks my heart not to be able to attend your funeral, due to my own health.
Just know that I am happy your in a place now with my mom, God, Paul, granny, your dad, and aunty Marlene. You all had a sense of humor and loving hearts. You all belong together enjoying heaven and each other's company.
Thank you for always giving me your shoulder to lean on from middle to highschool summers, when I needed to vent. No one will ever understand the love I have for you but you. I look forward to seeing you in my dreams with angel wings to remind me of keep pushing and being there for all who needs help.
I am ecstatic you are now free and watching over the family and guiding us into a positive direction.
I can go on forever about you teaching me about planting, painting, cooking, etc, but others need room to write. Love you always and forever!
The original baby of first cousins!

I'm going to miss her but I know she is in a better place now and not suffering she is with Aunt Maggie, my mom and Grandma looking down on us watching over us. I believe I will be with them one day in heaven. Take care everyone and keep the faith. RIP Aunt Marcia.

My childhood memories at 840 Montgomery are of great times spent each day after school playing with my cousins until my mom got home from work. I will also never forget the popsicles you would make which were as special to me as the Mr. Softee truck. One thing that stands out though are the parties you would have because the living room was cleared out to make a dance floor while we watched the adults do the hustle and sing the lyrics to the latest songs. The song “Ring My Bell” stands out in my memory and anytime I hear it I am transported back to your house watching the adults dance but ironically you hated when we would ring the bell to be let into the building. It was either stay in or stay out but stop ringing the bell. I can laugh now and I know you are laughing too but I will always cherish all the times I spent growing up with cousins who were like siblings. I hope you know you were loved and appreciated and you will be missed. Much love Auntie.

Marcia is the eldest of six children. If there’s one word to describe her it would be “Quiet”however she was kind, caring, loving and devoted to her family. My fondest memories are those growing up in Jamaica. My big sister took care of us. Sis I miss your smile but I know you’re in a better place hanging with Paul, mom, Marlene and Maggie. Rest in peace sis. One love.

I will extend my condolences to the Gordon Family. My beloved sister Marcia Gordon will never be forgotten. She was my oldest sister who gave birth from her husband Junior Gordon to Samantha, Maggie, Michel, Leo, and of course Paul that God blessed her with a long life on the faces of this dying world. We all are going to miss her but we must understand taking it to consideration that She is at a better place of rest . After entering the thrown of grace in prayer God placed it on my heart as a warning to reach out to all of you that still need a savior. Whosoever that are still lost must be connected to the TRUE VINE which is Christ Jesus. Christ is the true vine and we are the branches if we are not connected to Christ then we will not bear any fruit, So i say that to say this. One of the greatest commandments ( Mattew 22:37-40) Thou shall love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and the greatest command. And the second is like unto it Tho shalt love thy neighbor as thy self, On these two. commandments hang all the law and the prophets. May God Bless All Of You, One Love.
