Obituary of Lawrence J Stein

Please share a memory of Lawrence to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Lawrence J. Stein of Jackson, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold, NJ.

Larry was an intelligent, loving, tenacious, witty, kind, and generous man.  He graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a degree in Mathematics and was a pioneer in the computer industry building computers in his basement in the 1970’s.  He created Computer Mart of New Jersey and then founded and was President of Prodigy Systems, Inc. which were the first retail computer stores on the East Coast.  He enjoyed being on one of his many computers, operating ham radios, playing bridge, listening to music and being with his family.

Larry had many joys in life but none greater than his family.   He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Abe.  Larry is survived by his daughter and daughter-in-law, Jodi Stein-Erichsen and Michelle Merola, his daughter and son-in-law, Amy Stein-Terceiro and Gerry Terceiro, his adoring grandchildren Zack and Katie Terceiro, his devoted wife and caregiver Anna Poznak, and his grieving sister, Jackie Pilavakis.

A graveside service and burial will be on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, NJ followed by Shiva at the Jackson home.  A second night of Shiva will be on Thursday March 30, 2023 from 6-9 pm at the Beach Haven West home.

Memorial donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS) would always be appropriate and appreciated.
