Obituary of Marvin Richard Harris

Marvin Harris, 92 of Freehold Township, died Tuesday, March 14th at his home surrounded by loving family. Born in Passaic, he formerly resided in Passaic before moving to Freehold.  He was a graduate of Rutgers University College of Pharmacy. Marvin owned Harris Pharmacy in Freehold from 1962 to 1995 and worked for CVS Pharmacy for 10 years before retiring.  He was a member of the Monmouth/Ocean Pharmaceutical Society, New Jersey Pharmaceutical Association and National Association of Retail Druggists.

Marvin was a member of the Freehold Rotary Club and served as president and is a Paul Harris fellow. He was honored and nominated for the John G. McGackin award for businessman of the year and belonged to the Freehold Center Management Corp. He enjoyed fishing and playing chess in his spare time.

He was predeceased by his parents Irving and Gertrude Harris and his son-in-law Craig Nevulis.

Surviving is his wife of 55 years Laurie (nee Winquist), 2 children, Jennifer Nevulis, Brian and his wife Kelly Harris, his brother Dr. Gerald Harris and his wife Ronne. 5 grandchildren Allison, Trent and Steven Nevulis and Colin and Sydney Harris. He was “Uncle Marv” to several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Friday from 10:00AM to 11:00 AM at the Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main Street, Freehold. His funeral service to follow at 11:00AM. Burial will be at Atlantic Cemetery in Colts Neck.
