In 1982 Jack came to work for me as manager of the Short Hills office of Merrill Lynch. Before he showed up we had problems. After he came, we had no more problems. On top of that he was a great guy. I am sad for his passing and pray that the Lord has taken him into heaven. "Jack, I hope to see you one of these days and we will share a laugh together like in the old days!"

Jack was an intelligent, analytical man: gifted with an acerbic wit and a politician's penchant for answering any question, twice. Client "Jack what do you think of IBM here"? Jack, pause " well Sid, you buyin or sellin"?
Jack's Achilles heel was in using cliches that were originally used by Washington & Jefferson when they were drafting our Constitution. Prior to our weekly meeting Billy McDevitt, Frank McMahon, Mike Payne Bill Surdovel and myself would each chip in $2 and select a time that Jack would use one of his two notoriously famous statements during the meeting. TTOMI (The truth of the matter is) or TFOTMI )The fact of the matter is. (He had used one of the two over 200 consecutive weeks). Many a BP & BA (Bar Pie & Bass Ale) were enjoyed at the Olde Silver Tavern by the winner.
That said, Jack was the epitome' of the real deal. He was forthright and loyal to his clients and his FC's. Beyond that, he was quietly devoted to his family. He didn't overtly brag about Rose Ann, Brian or Laurie; but you could sense his pride in them a block away. He was a good leader and a good man. God Bless you Jack-Rest in peace. Larry P
