I cannot believe it's been more than 4 years since we exchanged emails and now you are gone. Frank was my biggest supporter when I worked at the Perth Amboy Adult School. Thank you, Frank. Nora

I am so sad to learn of Mr. Mento’s passing! My fiancé and I were reminiscing about the first day we met which was 7 years ago in Mr. Mento’s summer math class. What a class act he was, always charismatic and made math such an easy topic to learn. My condolences to his family, may he rest in eternal peace.

Had been thinking about Mr. Mento. Did not know he had passed. He was the good cop in the wrestling room. You wouldn't call him an expert at the sport, but he knew how to keep us happy and motivated while we were sweating off all that fat. So tough he survived a car crash with an airplane landing at Lincoln airport. :-) Spent some afternoons having a beer in our backyard with my dad, Nick Merlino. A crazy guy. A great teacher and coach, who must have had an impact on so many. Sad to hear of his passing.

I had Mr. Mento as a chemistry teacher in 1974 at Pequannock Township High School. Everyone wanted him for their chem teacher- an excellent, engaging teacher who truly loved his students. We learned and we laughed along the way. Thank you Mr. Mento for all you did for the students at PTHS - teacher, coach and friend.

We enjoyed working with Frank whenever he walked into the Testing Center at Middlesex County College.
He was always ready with a funny story or a good joke!
We still have a smile on our face when we think of him. He was a real jokester!
Our sympathies to his family!

My day was always brighter when I was lucky enough to bump into Frank in the hallways at Middlesex. He was one of the good ones, clearly cared deeply about his students and was making a difference. A wonderful, compassionate colleague with a sense of humor and very humble always. For many years, he was my go-to referral for students who needed just that something extra in order to be able to find their footing and do their best.
I am so very sorry for your loss.

GREAT teacher, supervisor and wonderful human being. He was a role model for what it's like to be a father and a professional. I could never thank him enough for helping me raise my kids and having us over for the summer for a swim in the pool and then a barbecue. He will be missed by all. Our condolences to his family. RIP.

I am Cousin Diane. Frankie and I grew up together at 64 Avenue C. He was my "Kemosabi". He was a Cowboy and I was a Cowgirl and we were always together. His mother, Aunt Evelyn was a sweetheart, too.
Frank will always be in my heart, and I will look forward to seeing him in Heaven with The Lord.

Mr. Mento was the greatest teacher! He made Chemistry fun and easy to understand even for those (like me) who struggled in math. His love of teaching was evident everyday. My condolences to his family. It was truly an honor to have him as my teacher!

Generous, laid-back and funny are 3 words to describe Uncle Frank. A “good guy” also comes to mind. He was always there all while we were growing up and he saw my children grow up also. He and my aunt Debbie were always such gracious hosts at their house. I just can’t imagine life without him. He contributed so much to so many students lives over the years, through his teaching and coaching. He was a great father and husband and the best uncle anyone could ask for. He would always say “you’re my favorite niece, but don’t tell Rebecca” lol I’m going to miss him so much. Heaven has gained another angel and I’m so happy that he and my aunt are together again. Forever in my heart. I love you Uncle Frank Xo
