Obituary of Ruth Elizabeth Soden

Ruth"Chickie" Soden, 89, of Freehold Township, died Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at Applewood Estates, Freehold. Born in Allentown, PA, she lived in Freehold since 1947. Ruth was a volunteer at CentraState Medical Center for over 20 years and prior to that, a former member of the "Round-Towners" group of Freehold and Freehold Hospital Auxiliary. She graduated from Allentown, PA High School in 1941 and Allentown School of Nursing in 1945 and was a Senior Cadet Nurse at U.S. Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, VA from 1944-1945. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Eugene, in 2002 and her sister Grace Stocker in 1998. She is survived by her three daughters and son-in-law, Barbara Palant of Ocean, Linda Soden of Tinton Falls and Ellen and Michael Camacho of Lakeville, Mass; and her grandson Kyle. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Clare Machu of Farmingdale and many nephews and a niece. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial gathering from 2 to 5:30 on Saturday, December 8th with a memorial service to follow at 5:30 PM at the Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main Street, Freehold. Interment will be private at Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan. Should friends desire a memorial donation may be made to a charity of your choice
