Obituary of Rae Hermans
Rae Hermans, 88, of Manalapan, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 26, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Rae dedicated her life to being a devoted homemaker, cherishing every moment spent with her family and friends.
Rae's joy was found in the simple pleasures of life, from her cherished trips to Atlantic City to the large family dinners where her legendary Italian meatballs were celebrated by all who knew her. She was a retired member of the Robertsville Volunteer Fire Company’s Women’s Auxiliary, always ready to lend a helping hand.
Her most treasured memories were the sleepovers with her grandchildren, filled with laughter and card games, where she imparted her wisdom and love. Rae's warmth and generosity touched everyone she met, leaving a lasting legacy of love and kindness.
Predeceased by her beloved husband, Albert, in December 2017, and five of her six siblings, Rae is survived by her dear sister, Antoinette, and her four children and their spouses: Albert J. and Denise Hermans of Morganville, NJ; George B. and Jane Hermans of Apex, NC; Lisa M. Koch of North Myrtle Beach, SC; and Jeannette E. and Dirk Welsh of Bethlehem Twp., PA.
Rae's legacy continues through her 12 grandchildren: Meghan Marie Welsh, Dannielle E. Turner (Ryan), Dirk M. Welsh II (Jessica), Kaitlin Welsh (Ben Hangstorfer), Albert Hermans (Teressa), Nicholas Hermans (Michele Arenella), Samantha Olsen (Ryan), Michael Hermans (Fernanda), Cara Aames (Michael), David Koch, Alexa Koch, and Hanah Koch; and her 12 great-grandchildren: Jude Wentz, Noah Wentz, Violet Wentz, Dirk Welsh III, Carly Turner, Anderson Turner, Gatsby Hangstorfer, Emory Hermans, Laney Hermans, Stella Aames, Vivien Aames, and Gabriella Hermans.
Rae's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and community. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
We extend our deepest gratitude and heartfelt thanks to Lela T., who became not only a cherished caregiver but also a valued friend to Rae. Lela's patience, compassion, and kindhearted care during Rae's time of need brought immense comfort and peace to our family. Her unwavering support and love during such a difficult time are beyond words, and we will forever be grateful for the care and friendship she provided.
The family would also like to express their deep appreciation to the many friends and family members who reached out with calls and visits to check in on Rae. Your thoughtful gestures and constant support brought comfort and warmth to Rae and our entire family during this difficult time. Your kindness will always be remembered and cherished.
