Obituary of Paul Russo
Paul Russo, 83, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2024 in Manalapan, NJ. Paul was born in the Bronx, NY, to his late parents, Vito and Frances. He moved to Staten Island in 1972, where he raised his son and daughter with his late wife, Susan.
Paul worked as a U.S. Customs Inspector in New York and New Jersey for 25 years before retiring. During his career, he served as the President of the Columbia Association of U.S. Customs and the National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU) in Newark. After retiring, Paul became a Senior Ombudsman Advocate and remained actively involved in friendship clubs throughout Staten Island. In 2006, he relocated to Bluffton, South Carolina, where he spent 15 years participating in political clubs and activities. He was the President of the Sun City Democratic Club, a position through which he demonstrated extraordinary leadership, vision, and dedication that touched the lives of all who knew him. Paul returned to New Jersey in 2019 to spend more time with his beloved grandchildren.
Paul was predeceased by his wife, Susan, in 1986 and his siblings Dan, Joseph, Margaret, Rose and Marie. He is survived by his son, Michael, of Morganville, NJ; his daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Sal Ballarino, of Manalapan, NJ; his three grandchildren, Jackie, Andrew, and Jessica and his granddog, Coco. Friends and Family are invited to visit on Thursday, December 19th, from 3:00PM to 8:00PM, at the Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan, NJ 07726. A funeral liturgy will follow on Friday, December 20th at 10:00AM at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church in Englishtown, NJ.
