Obituary of Anthony Patrick Alfano
Anthony Patrick Alfano, 78, of Old Bridge, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
Anthony was born in Irvington, New Jersey before moving to Union, New Jersey. Prior to retirement Anthony worked as a meat cutter for Foodtown of West End. Anthony also worked at his cousins Italian restaurant, the Brick Oven, where he met many incredible people who become dear friends.
While not at work, Anthony loved anything sports. He enjoyed playing golf and going to the track. He was an avid Dodger fan. Anthony spent many years coaching the Secaucas Babe Ruth baseball league and spoke fondly of that time.
Anthony was predeceased by his parents Patrick and Gaetana Alfano and brother Patrick. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Madeline Alfano, daughters Donna Griggs, Lisa Winnicki (Carl) and Toni Alfano (Michael) and grandchildren Megan Cegelski, Christopher DeFalco, Tyler Griggs, Jake Winnicki, Nicholas and Joseph Alfano.
His grandchildren were the joy of his life. He loved being with them, watching them grow and telling lots of stories of the past. Every memory is filled with love and laughter.
Friends and family are invited to visit on Thursday, November 7th , from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Freeman Manalapan Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North. A funeral liturgy will be held at St. Ambrose Church on Friday at 10:30 AM. Entombment will follow at St. Gabriels Cemetery and Mausoleum in Marlboro, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Anthony’s name.
