Obituary of Richard F. Sheridan

Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Richard F. Sheridan, 84, of Englishtown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, Richard was the son of Francis and Olga Sheridan. After graduating Seton Hall University and Temple University with several degrees, Richard served in the US Army before dedicating the next 50 years working for those with special needs. He was credited with starting multiple programs offering residential and employment opportunities, gaining independence for individuals with disabilities. For his final position he served as the Executive Director of The Arc of Middlesex County until retiring in 2016. Richard loved to travel to exciting places and experience new cultures. While at home, his spare time was spent cooking, reading and tracing his family geneology, where he was proud to discover that his 4th great grandfather is buried in Poets Corner within Westminster Abbey in London.

Richard was predeceased by his parents and son Richard “Ricky” Sheridan. He is survived by his loving wife Donna; children Kristyn Sheridan, Tara Pellegrino (Doug), Erin Shepherd (Steve), Michael Sheridan (Margaret), Gary Sheridan and Jennifer Majoros; step children Lisa Rachels, Christina Lorincz (Stephen) and James Rachels; sister Valerie Schweitzer and grandchildren Kyle, Tiana, Sawyer, Danielle, Brody, Rachel, Joseph, Danielle Marie and Luciana.

On Sunday, June 23rd, friends and family are invited to pay their respects from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, at Freeman Manalapan Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North.
