Obituary of Barbara Joan Murray

Please share a memory of Barbara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Barbara Joan Murray, 85, of Marlboro, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2024, peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Barbara was born in Brooklyn, New York. She loved gardening and shopping for flowers in Lancaster Amish Country. She was an avid backyard birdwatcher and had too many birdhouses to count. One of Barbara’s greatest joys was babysitting her grandchildren and watching their sporting events which she rarely missed regardless of the weather, location, or time. She was the most generous person, generous with her time, her love, and gifts. She always insisted on holding Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings at her home even when it was difficult for her.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents Martin Sheridan and Margaret Sheridan; brothers Richard Sheridan (Diane) and Martin Sheridan (Betty) and sister Margaret “Peggy” Labrum (Robert).  She is survived by her loving husband John Murray; son John Murray (Bade Sozer); daughter Marybeth Murray-Singh (Davinder); brothers Robert Sheridan (Cheryl) and Thomas Sheridan (Jodi); sister Marcella Dougan and grandchildren Aidan Singh, Dylan Singh, Devin Murray and Lila Murray.

Friends and family are invited to visit on Wednesday, June 19th, from 1:00PM to 4:00PM at Freeman Manalapan Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan, NJ.  A funeral liturgy will be held at St. Gabriel’s MAIN Church in Marlboro, NJ on Thursday, June 20th at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for memorial donations to The St. Vincent de Paul Society.
