Obituary of Violet J Schopf
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Violet J. Schopf announce her passing on January 16, 2024. Violet, 91, of Old Bridge, NJ, was born in Brooklyn, NY, and spent a great deal of time in Freehold, NJ. Later in life, she traveled between Old Bridge, NJ, and Fort Myers, FL.
Violet was employed as a banker for Citibank and Wachovia Bank. She was a working mom way before that was the norm. After retirement, Violet enjoyed socializing at the pool, soaking up the sun, and playing shuffleboard, bingo, and bocce ball with her friends in Florida. She was the life of any party and was always the last one on the dance floor. Violet loved and cherished every moment with family and friends. She never let a birthday, holiday, or milestone celebration pass without a card, gift, or call to mark the occasion. Violet was generous in every way.
Violet was predeceased by her parents, Stephen and Helen Szwech, her loving spouse Raymond, her brothers, Stephen and John, her half-brothers, Alex, Frank, Joseph, Walter, her half-sister, Lily, and her daughter-in-law, Pamela. She was the matriarch and resident historian of the Szwech (and Hojinacki) clan since the early death of her mother. She is survived by her son Gerald Cucchiara, grandchildren Gerald Paul Cucchiara, Jr. (Christina) and Nicholas Leonard Cucchiara (Jaime), as well as great-grandchildren Nicholas Cucchiara, Ella Cucchiara, Sophia Cucchiara, and Joseph Cucchiara. Violet was lovingly known as “Babci'' to her great-grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to visit on Sunday, January 21st from 2:00 to 6:00pm, at Freeman Manalapan Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North. A funeral liturgy will be held at St. Rose of Lima Church on Monday, January 22nd at 10:30am. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery and Mausoleum.
