Obituary of Louise Emily Asta

Please share a memory of Louise to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Louise Emily Asta, 72, of Hamilton Twp., NJ passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. She was born in Brooklyn, New York and was married and became a mother at the young age of 19.  She was a stay-at-home mother for many years, raising her children in Manalapan, New Jersey, where she participated in her children’s schools, as a CCD teacher at St. Thomas Moore Church and as a fitness instructor at the Manalapan Recreation. She was a proud returning student and graduated from Rutgers University at age 37 with a degree in English Literature. She had a life-long love of writing and became an editor for a small newspaper after graduating from college.  She worked her way up as an administrative assistant to become a Public Relations and Marketing Manager for the New York and Philadelphia markets of Allied Domecq (Dunkin Donuts and Baskin Robbins) and was awarded an employee excellence award in 2002. She later became an editor and photographer at the Homestead at Hamilton, where she met her boyfriend Jeff Kelley, and helped produce three editions of their Common Thread Magazine.

Louise loved spending time with family and counted her children and grandchildren as the best things she had done in her life. She was warm and affectionate; hosting many family holidays and gatherings and cooking delicious meals. She was fun-loving and lively; with a great sense of humor. She was quick to sing and dance; with a pretty soprano singing-voice she had cultivated in choir as a child.  She was a classic movie afficionado, an aspiring photographer, a curious and avid reader, a talented writer, and a fitness/health enthusiast much of her life. She also remained close to her Catholic faith throughout her life. She is greatly remembered for her lifelong beauty; her big hazel eyes, dark shining hair and gorgeous and engaging smile. Her family and friends will greatly miss her and will hold the best of her in their hearts.

She is survived by her Mother, Georgia Poulos, her two children and their spouses, Georgia and John McGinty of Robbinsville, NJ; Bill and Christine Fraser of Somerset, NJ; her brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Nereida Asta of Venice, FL; her four granddaughters, Olivia, Alexia and Shannon Fraser and Julia McGinty and her long-time boyfriend Jeff Kelley.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023 from10:00am-12:00pm with a funeral service starting at 11:30am at the Freeman Manalapan Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan, NJ 07726. Interment will follow at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery in Marlboro, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital at www.st.jude.org.
