Obituary of Florence Yorkanis

Florence Marie Yorkanis, 100, of Millstone Twp., NJ, passed away on November 27, 2023 at Preferred Care at Wall. Florence was born on March 13, 1923, in Dickson City, Pennsylvania, to Adolph John Savitski and Catherine R Sowinski. Her mother Catherine R. passed away on December 7, 1935, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, at the age of 35. Her father Adolph John passed away on October 17, 1940, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, at the age of 43. Florence was a mother who wrapped her love around her children and a wonderful homemaker. She also sold Avon for 20 years to help support her family.

Florence married Henry A. (Jurkanis) Yorkanis on September 7, 1946, in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Her husband Henry passed away on March 31, 1997, in Englishtown, N J, at the age of 71. They had been married for 50 years. She is survived by her five children David H. and his wife Carol of Manahawkin, Catherine A Shapson of Millstone Township, Nancy Nasdeo and her husband Edward C. Jr. of Franklin Twp., Mark A. of Manahawkin and John T. of Millstone Twp; 10 grandchildren Michael J, Amy M., Robert, Joy E., Thomas E., Brian J., Catherine, Matthew M., John David and Mark A. Jr.; her 10 great-grandchildren Maria, Jacquelyn, Ellis, Katalina, Timothy, Adelynne, Theodore, Leyla, Easton, and Jackson and many nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.

Florence is also preceded in death by her brothers Joseph Stanley and Anthony Frank (Tony); her sister Dolores C.; her grandson Thomas E. Nasdeo and her son-in-law Jay F. Shapson.

Friends and family are invited to visit on Saturday, December 2^nd, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM and Monday, December 4^th from 8:00AM to 9:00AM, at Freeman Manalapan Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North.  A funeral liturgy will be held at St. Joseph's Church on Saturday, December 2^nd at 1:00 PM. Interment will be at St. Anthony's Cemetery on Monday, December 4^th  at 12:00PM.
