Obituary of John Randolph Scott

John Randolph “Randy” Scott, 87, of Manalapan, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023, at Centra State Medical Center. Randy was born in Fort Lee, New Jersey. Randy received a Bachelor of Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Following his honorable service in the United States Marine Corps., he embarked on a distinguished career as a Mechanical Engineer for UNIVAC, Manhattan Industries, and Tandem Computers. Randy was a member of the Knights of Columbus, an avid golfer, and recently served as Treasurer of the NJ Senior Golf League.

 

Randy is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Betty Scott. His legacy lives on through his devoted children: son Kevin Scott of East Brunswick NJ; daughter Lisa Terry and son-in-law Bill Terry of Middle River MD; and daughters Kris Scott-Samurovich and Karen Scott-Freehoff of Manalapan NJ. Fondly known as “Pop”, Randy also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Samantha, Jack, and Daniel Terry, Alex and Emily Freehoff, and Theo and Lily Samurovich.

 

Randy was predeceased by his parents Robert and Kathryn “Kitty” Scott and brothers Robert and Leroy Scott. Randy’s memory will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.                      .

 

Friends and family are invited to visit on Wednesday, November 29th, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Freeman Manalapan Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North. A funeral service will be held at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church on Thursday at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery time TBD.
