Obituary of Eileen Miranda Croal

Eileen Miranda Croal, 95, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, in her apartment at Monmouth Crossing Assisted Living, guided and protected by God. Eileen was an immigrant from Corentyne, Guyana. Eileen was one of four children of Aaron and Alberta Charles. Her siblings were Rupert Charles, Sybil Damon, and Brindley Charles. Eileen was a machine operator at Demerara Tobacco Company in Georgetown, Guyana. She had the endeavor for a better life for her family, which led to her immigrating to the United States of America. Reinventing herself, she changed professions and became a nurse. Eileen purchased her first home in Irvington, New Jersey, and lived there for 11 years. She moved from Irvington to Orange, New Jersey, where she bought a condominium and became the head of the condominium association. She lived there for 31 years. Eileen was a devoted Christian and a Christ Church member in East Orange, New Jersey. 

Eileen lived with her son Claimonte and daughter-in-law Audrey for a short period, then moved on to live at Monmouth Crossing in Freehold, New Jersey, where she enjoyed the activities and the support of the nursing and administrative staff. Her journey was guided by the principles of Psalm 23, embodying the spirit of hard work, family, and faith. She cherished her role as a mother to Nathalie Shipp and her son, Claimonte Nelson. Eileen's legacy lives on through her grandchildren Stephanie, Gavin, Paige, and great-grandchildren Damien, Ada, Sabele, and Raiin. Eileen leaves a host of nieces and nephews in Guyana and the United States of America.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Eileen's life on Tuesday, November 28. The viewing will be from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM at Freeman Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan, NJ, 07726. At 6:30 PM, a celebration service will be held at the same location.
