Obituary of Irene Lu

Irene Lu, 96, of Marlboro, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 21, 2023 in Madison, Wisconsin. Irene Lu was born on April 15, 1927 in Shanghai, China to Hugh and Faith Bao. In 1979, she immigrated to the US, living in Ohio, North Carolina and New Jersey.  She was a devoted Christian, well-respected concert pianist, and cherished professor at the renowned Shanghai Conservatory of Music and Cleveland Institute of Music for over 35 years.  Irene loved to play her beloved piano and served as church organist and pianist for over 70 years in China and the United States.

Irene was predeceased by her husband Peter Lu.  She is survived by her sons Joseph (Julia) Lu, David (Dee) Lu and Philip (Rebecca) Lu; sister Beatrice (Timothy) Lee and brother Isaac Bao and grandchildren Isaac, Elizabeth, Emily and Samuel.

Friends and family are invited to visit on Saturday, September 30th, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, at Freeman Manalapan Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North.  A funeral service will be held at Freeman Manalapan Marlboro Funeral Home on Saturday at 10:30 AM.
