Obituary of James Thomas Longo

James Thomas Longo passed away at the age of 75 on Friday, August 11, 2023. While his passing certainly leaves a void in our hearts, be reassured he was at peace, surrounded by his family in their beach home in Lavallette, NJ.  Jim was born in 1947 and embodied the true spirit of a classic, one-of-a-kind Brooklyn Italian.  His story continued as he and his wife of now 58 years, moved to Staten Island, NY and then to Manalapan, NJ to raise their family. He was loved by all and will be remembered for his charismatic storytelling, sense of humor, never-back-down spirit, devotion to friends and family and his incredible triumphs.  Although the odds were against him, he achieved the American Dream, as a business owner and a true family man.  He was known as the center of his family and instilled his values, traditions and work ethic in both his children and grandchildren so they may carry on his legacy.  

He lives on by his beloved wife Frances Longo; mother Concetta Longo; daughters Antoinette Neebling (Steve Sona) of Millstone, Michelle Stefanelli (Marc) of Manalapan and Christine Longo of Manalapan; grandchildren Nicole Clancy (Thomas), James Neebling, Michael Stefanelli, Francesca Stefanelli and Marc Stefanelli.                                      .

Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life, tell his favorite stories and reminisce on Sunday, August 13, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, at Freeman Manalapan Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North. A funeral liturgy will be held at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church on Monday at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery and Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to the American Cancer Society.
