Obituary of Joseph Barkow

Joseph Barkow, 68, of Lakewood, died on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015 at his residence. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Joseph later moved to East Windsor and then spent the last seven years in Lakewood. Mr. Barkow held numerous executive positions for various Wall Street firms throughout his 40 year career. He was an avid reader who appreciated spending quality time with his loving family. Joe traveled extensively with his wife Elvira in his later years. He held a special place in his heart for his dog Gracie with whom he spent many afternoons on the couch watching his beloved NY Mets. He is survived by his wife: Elvira Stivala-Barkow of Lakewood; three sons, Daniel and his wife Robyn of Bedminster, PA, William and his wife Gretchen of Warren and Joshua and his girl-friend Kathryn Michalchuk of Jackson. He is also survived by his step-daughter Danielle Stivala of Toms River and brother Garry of Queens, NY. Joe also leaves six granddaughters and three great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, February 27, from 2-4 & 7-9 PM, at the Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main Street, Freehold. A Funeral service will be held in the funeral home starting at 8:15pm. Private cremation will follow.
