Obituary of Ofelia Hernandez

Ofelia Hernandez, 89, of Freehold, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at The Villas of Holmdel. Ofelia was born in Havana, Cuba . She came to the United States with her husband and two daughters in 1961. Ofelia was employed as a Proxy Auditor for Merrill Lynch in New York, New York which she retired from after 25 years.

Ofelia was predeceased by her parents Manuel Garcia and Esclavitud Vidal; and her husband Mario Hernandez. She is survived by her daughters Maria Oliverio (Frank) of Stafford NJ and Gisela Schwind (Joe) of Freehold NJ; her brother Manuel Garcia (Dulce) of Queens NY; grandchildren Barbara, Joseph, John, Nicole and Stephanie; and great-grandchildren Aubrey, Sienna, Hailey, John, and Austin.                                                 

Ofelia’s wishes were for this to be a celebration of her life and she would love for everyone to dress in bright colors and avoid wearing black. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the St Jude Foundation in her name.

Friends and family are invited to visit on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main Street, Freehold, NJ.
