Obituary of Edward Anthony Wonsicki, Jr.

Edward Anthony Wonsicki, Jr., age 84, of Manalapan, NJ, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023 at Bayshore Hackensack Meridian Hospital in Holmdel after a serious recent illness.  Ed was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, lived in New Jersey and North Carolina before settling in Manalapan, NJ for the past 53 years with his wife Patricia.

He attended St. Michael’s Diocesan High School, graduated from Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn earning a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.  During his college years, he was an active participant and held leadership positions in student organizations.  He was also a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers for over 50 years.  Ed was an initiated brother in the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, Theta Epsilon Chapter.  He enjoyed the comradery and close relationships of his brothers during and after graduation for many years, including several enjoyable fraternity reunions with brothers and wives.

With his Chemical Engineering background he started his career working for Johns-Manville, M&T Chemicals before going to Betz Laboratories and their Betz Entee Division specializing in product development, sales marketing and industrial water treatment.

After retiring from the engineering industry, he joined his wife Patricia as co-owner of Kinderland Learning Center and Summer Fun Day Camp, a private school and summer camp in Marlboro, NJ until they both fully retired. Ed and Pat maintained homes in Manalapan and Cape Cod, MA and enjoyed the pleasure of cruises and air travel to many countries of the world.

Ed was predeceased by his son Edward Paul Wonsicki, his sister Carolyn Maria Angelo and his parents Edward, Sr., and Rose Lillian Wonsicki. He is survived by his wife Patricia Ann, his daughter and son-in-law Kristyna and Phillip Fuoti of Matawan, NJ, two grandchildren and extended family and friends in the tri-state area and beyond.

Friends and family are invited to visit on Friday, March 10th from 2:00p.m. to 4:00p.m. and 6:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. at Freeman Manalapan Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North.  A funeral liturgy will beheld at St. Gabriel’s Main Church located at 100 North Main Street, Marlboro, NJ 07746 on Saturday March 11th at 11:15a.m..  Entombment will follow at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery and Mausoleum.
