Obituary of Michael Joseph DiArchangel
Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Michael Joseph DiArchangel, 60, of Manalapan passed away on Monday, January 16, 2023, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. Michael was born in Brooklyn, NY and lived in Manalapan for 40 years. He was a proud member of the I.L.A (International Longshoremen's Association)and worked for APM Terminals in Elizabeth, NJ before retiring in 2021. Michael was always a fighter and had a strong will to live. He survived a plane crash at age 18 after having dreams of becoming a pilot, and survived stage 4 non-Hodgkin's lymphoma at age 30.
His love of life, love of family, positive attitude, gentle nature, constant humor, and openness to all others left an indelible mark on all who knew him no matter what the circumstances or the time spent together. He left a loving impression on all who encountered him - even if it was only for 5 minutes - that matched his desire to connect on some level with everyone around him. He would tell everyone that he survived cancer and he never took it for granted, even after his health was forever impacted by these treatments.
Michael was predeceased by his father Michael M. DiArchangel. He is survived by his wife Stacy; his loving son Michael; his mother Jean; his sister Gina; his brother Stephen and wife Karen; brother Keith and partner Katie-Anne; and his nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to visit on Friday from 4-8 pm at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday. Internment will follow at Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
