I am so sorry to know this! I only knew Steve professionally, having worked with him on many cases while was at EY and KPMG India. He was a thorough professional with high standards and work ethics. His questions and observations very sharp and precise. I moved to the US and thought of reaching out to him today - in case I could work with him again - if he remembers me, but came across this. My heartfelt condolences to Steve’s family, friends, team and colleagues.

My deepest condolences to all of Steve's family and loved ones. Steve was a wonderful human being with full of humor and empathy. I was extremely fortunate and privileged to have known him and worked with him as a colleague and friend. He was always there for you, always responsive, very thoughtful, and always smiled. All of us in Asia Pacific will remember him forever - we lost a friend who knew us very well and who was always thinking of us. Personally, I will miss him dearly and will forever cherish all the great memories I had with him. May he rest in peace.

A candle to the man who always competed with me on how much mandarin words we knew; who always had a smile on his face, protein shaker in his hand, and a joke on the top of his tongue. For me, Steve will always be remembered as a kind , positive, and most generous person. It was such a pleasure to work with him and what a beautiful family he was a part of that he Celeste and Jessica always opened their home to the team every summer to have a work family gathering. Such fun times to be cherished.

I met Steve for the first time when I joined J&J back in August 2021. As part of my induction to the whole team, I was asked to prepare a slide about myself and include some photos. One of these photos was actually a fishing trip with my friends, that's when Steve stopped me there and said "Next time I come to Dubai, you will take me fishing".
Fast forward 1 year, I met Steve face to face in New Brunswick, he was very welcoming and had a quite strong hand shake. He invited us to his home, we had dinner and then he prepared a little seating arrangement in his backyard with a nice firepit next to his fish pond. We laughed all night and he told us stories about how he bought his house. Although it was my first time meeting Steve, he welcomed me in his home, treated me like family and shared a lot about himself (including his long walks). He is an incredible person, funny, warm, kind and indeed strong. Steve is one of the few people I met once but will always remember.
We stayed in touch until few weeks before he passed away, I remember he told me that he is staying positive and praying for the best. Going through his Tribute, I can tell that he lived a good life and devoted it to his family. God bless his soul. My sincere condolences to Celeste, Jessica, his family, friends and collogues at J&J.

Steve was larger than life. It was my pleasure that our paths crossed. When I first met Steve, he was preparing his protein shake. Little did I know it was his daily routine. I knew he wasn’t in the office when I didn’t hear his mixer going. We worked together for 10+ years and his love for his family shone. He always shared stories about what they did over the weekend and how many cartwheels Jessica could do in a row. There was so much more to Steve. He looked like he belonged in a rock n roll band than a fraud investigator. He had a great big heart and was as gentle as a lamb. When they made Steve, they broke the mold. Celeste, you are amazingly strong to have to put up with Steve’s antics. Jessica, you have grown up to be a beautiful young woman that has your dad’s spirit. The world has lost a friend but Steve has given us so many wonderful memories. I will miss him dearly.

Steve was an amazing person. More than just a colleague, but a true friend I could count on and trust. He was always positive and I'll always remember his smile.
We shared adjacent offices and my favorite part of the day (pre-Covid) was catching up in the wee hours of the morning b/c I would drop my stuff off before heading to the gym and he would already be at his desk working or speaking to one of his team members in AsPac. And then we would chat again when I would start my work day.
He was generous with his time, and loved to share his knowledge. I learned everything about investigations from him, which he loved doing. He had a passion for his work, but most of all, he was devoted to his family. He often mentioned Celeste and Jess (who he repeatedly referred to as his "best friend") when we would share stories.
Although he had a physically intimidating presence, he was a teddy bear with the biggest and kindest heart.
I'll miss him dearly, but will remember the many conversations we had with fondness.

So sorry to hear of Steve's passing. We worked together in Audit for many years, although never actually got to travel or be on the same job. Still, he was an absolute pleasure to bump into at work - always smiling, always upbeat and happy. I don't think I've ever seen him stressed, tired, frustrated or upset. Always a huge welcoming smile, and lots of fun stories and big plans ahead of him. Let him rest in peace, and my deepest condolences to his loving family.

Steve was one of the first team members I met when I came to J&J 15 years ago. Over the years, we grew to be very comfortable with each other, and I felt that we had a very good working and personal relationship. He was always a great communicator and had a talent to both sympathize and empathize well…something that I found an endearing quality and one of the qualities I admired in him the most.
Those that have worked at J&J with him know that we always talk about our Credo…I always felt that Steve was its embodiment. His love for his wife and daughter – undying. His dedication to his team, and their loyalty to him – inspiring. The way that he treated everyone with respect was more than admirable. He was a saint...though he had a tough exterior he was one of the most compassionate individuals I’d ever met. He had an incredible attitude and had what I perceived as a super-power to always look adversity in the eye and turn it around to something positive. He had so many great qualities that as I look back, I realize that he had inspired me to try my best to incorporate many of them into my own personal and professional life. I'm not sure many could pull it off as well as he did.
I feel truly blessed to have known and learned from Steve, even if he didn’t know he was teaching me things. I can still remember his squinty-grin, and how reassuring and relieving it was for me to see it.
Steve you will always have a place in my heart. Rest in Peace my friend….

Steve was a great friend and colleague, and an incredible person.
I met Steve when I interviewed him for a job in GAA. Hiring Steve was an easy decision. I could always count on Steve’s positive attitude, incredible work ethic, tremendous passion, and total honesty. Steve spoke his mind, and that made it so easy and pleasurable to work with him.
I could always count on Steve to be the first US person to email me at the start of the day. In fact, my first four or so emails were usually from Steve. Often, the third or fourth email would say “Disregard email number 1.”
I could always count on Steve to be skeptical and question things. He once told me that it only took him a few years to trust certain people. Healthy skepticism is quite a good trait for an investigator. Steve certainly
possessed that trait.
I could always count on Steve to provide stock market advice. Most of his advice was good, but some was …,, well, maybe not so good.
I could always count on Steve to commiserate with me about the Mets. We shared many years of suffering through tough seasons. Steve would often tell
me that next year would be better.
I could always count on Steve to send me a funny text. On one of his famous hiking and biking expeditions, Steve called to tell me that he had been stopped by a police officer while on a bike ride at 6AM. Who gets stopped riding a bike???
I could always count on Steve to throw a good party. His annual Super Bowl parties and occasional Summer barbecues were always fun. And who names a barbecue with an accounting term (MFASB, or Manzon Family Annual Summer Barbecue)???
I could always count on Steve to have pizza at his house. Even when he was in the midst of an intense training regimen, he would not easily relinquish the pizza.
As I got to know Steve more, I realized what an incredible husband, father, and son he was. Steve was awesome in every respect.
Like many others, I will Incredibly miss Steve and what he brought all of us. May God bless Steve and his family.

Steve has been my direct manager since I joined the J&J CA&I team in 2019. He is my recruitment interviewer as well. I remember that I attended the interview on a late spring afternoon. Steve and I had a pleasant talk. He shared a lot about his career, hobbies, and most importantly, his devotion to J&J. His passion impressed me and eventually made me take the job.
It’s not easy to settle down in a new company, and that's why I appreciate all support coming from Steve. Although we are sitting on different continents, he tried his best to connect with and guide me. We have 1:1 periodical calls biweekly (even now I feel loath to erase it from my calendar). He taught me a lot on the call, including communication and team management skills. He also talked about his family, pet, and vacation. When our team encountered resistance in dealing with our work, Steve always came forward and fight for us. For me and CA&I China team, he is not only my supervisor but a friend and trusted elder.
We all felt worried when we heard the news of his health issue, but Steve always kept positive in front of us. He clung tenaciously to his job despite physical discomfort. After he took the surgery, he would share the photo and comfort us reversely. We know his status might be worse than his description, but we never expect it would happen so soon. Last Wednesday, Steve gave me a call and said that he would be back to the treatment. We talked a while and just like our old calls, he said: “I won't keep you long and I'll let you go home. Let's talk later. It's great of seeing you, J.” When we all prayed for the best outcome of the treatment, life dealt us a cruel blow.
There is someone in your life with who you would thank God sincerely to let you meet. For me, Steve is one of them. I appreciate everything I learned from him. When I find difficulty in my work now, I always pause for a moment and think “What Steve would do under such circumstances.” I believe he's still with us and guide our team in a different way. As Bible said, death is not the end of everything, and one day we will meet each other again in heaven. Before that, good luck with your new journey, Steve, and you will be missed deeply.
May God brings his comfort and peace to Celeste, Jessica, and all of Steve's family members during this difficult period.

Celeste,
I was saddened to hear of Steve’s passing on Sunday, when just the previous Saturday he greeted and welcomed me into your beautiful home with a big smile and a warm hug. When he spoke about what he was going through to all that were gathered at your home on Saturday his words had a profound effect on me and his bravery, resilience and strength were heartfelt as well as his love for you and Jessica that emanated throughout.
To you and Jessica, extended family members and friends; I pray for; peace to bring you comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories of this special man to hold forever in your hearts.

As others have already said, I was heartbroken to hear the news of Steve's passing. Life has once again proven how cruel it can be, taking from us someone so young, who had so much to live for.
Steve and I worked together at J&J. I knew him to be very professional, hard working, and always serious about his work. But more importantly I found him to be caring an compassionate about those who worked for him, and those he worked with. He would always put others before himself.
But the thing I will remember most about Steve is how much he loved and was proud of his family. If I close my eyes I can still see him sitting there beginning to talk about them. That wry smile would just get bigger, to the point where his eyes squinted. For me, that smile will be frozen in time.
I know too well what it is like to loose a parent at a young age, and my heart goes out to Celeste and Jessica. Now is the time for grieving. But know that you are not alone, as there are hundreds of Steve's friends and colleagues who will be there thinking of you and Steve.
Steve, rest in piece. I am so sorry to have not heard you were ill, as I would have wanted to speak with you.

Steve left us too soon that everyone of us is still digesting the heart-broken news...Steve is a great great manager to our whole China team. And to myself, Steve was a great teacher and friend. He's always there to support the whole team, and to support myself. Past one and half year with Steve left us so many beautiful memories. Steve loved shrimp dumplings. Steve always joked that "It's too bad we cannot achieve diversity in China team, as all my outstanding team members are ladies". Steve loved decorating his house's garden and lawn, and was so happy sharing us the pictures of the Christmassy lawn and ponds. Steve said to all of us "Please expect Steve Hulk or Steve Golfer back in six months. I will beat you all on golf field". Even with great pain, Steve was always asking in every message between us, "Is team doing ok? I miss team a lot."
We know we've said this to Steve so many times in every message to him, but we want to say, again and again, that Steve, we all miss you so much, and we'll always miss you, deeply in heart.
Steve, we owe you so many thanks. Thank you for inspiring us with your braveness, strong and positive life attitude. Thank you for always being willing and available to talk whenever we reach out. Thank you for guiding us whenever we feel lost. Thank you for giving me courage and encouraging me to take one step further in the career journey. Thank you for everything.
Steve, we'll never forget you...You slipped the surly bonds of earth, to touch the face of God. May you have the peaceful rest wherever you are. Our thoughts and best prayers are with your family.

I have known and worked with Steve for 15+ years. He was one of the most genuine and generous people I have ever met.
He would see the light on in my cubicle and stop by for a chat as he left the office. We would laugh and share stories about living and growing up in the Irvington, NJ area, about his family, his dog, his self built pond in the backyard and the koi inside it, and his diet and pizza binges.
And then there were his house parties for the ASG team in the summer. He graciously invited us into his home to give us a chance to socialize outside of official work settings. I was always the last one to leave...helping his wife Celeste clean up after everyone had left. Those quiet chats were always so funny and the best.
Steve always had a smile on his face, and a warmth that affected us all.
While our friend Steve's time here on Earth may have ended, my belief system teaches that our soul lives on forever, and his journey is far from over.
May the hand of God bring comfort to Celeste, Jessica, his parents, and all the family and friends that grieve.
You will be missed Steve.

Steve left us way too soon. Was praying daily for a different outcome. I know he fought till the very end and stayed positive all through the illness. In one of his many texts to me, he said that maybe he is going through a mid-life tune up after which he will be a perfect physical specimen. To someone else on the team, he said he was going to be back as the Incredible Hulk after beating the disease!
I have been reflecting on our conversations over the years and not surprisingly what stands out is his loyalty, kindness, incredible work ethic, passion for developing his ASPAC team and being a strong advocate for them. Who can forget Steve's competitiveness....walking almost all night and then having to be picked up by Celeste because he thought Kona was tired from that much walking just to win the prize for the "most steps in the group". And when we established a metric for investigations, he and his team nailed it! I cannot also forget the numerous texts/emails I would get from him when there was a matter he did not like or wanted to bring to my attention. Steve liked to talk and he certainly livened up my staff meetings! He once gave fashion advice to the men and encouraged them to all buy Bugatch shirts!!! Steve was the one person in my career who mostly called me "Boss" and got away with it! From him, it sounded right and spoke about the trust we had in each other.
Another thing that came shining through was Steve's love for his family. He talked about them a lot, especially Celeste & Jess. He was so proud of his daughter. Loved to hang out with her. He was excited about his trip to OSU for a Halloween party with Jess! Once his illness was diagnosed, he was so thankful to Celeste for taking charge of his treatment. The very last time I met him in person he said, "My woman is a Saint".
Steve, you will be missed very dearly. You have touched my life positively. My wish for you now is that you are at peace wherever you are. And my wish for your parents, Celeste and Jess is that God gives them courageto bear the loss and find strength in the wonderful memories you have created together. God bless!
