Obituary of Hyman Roy Levy

On Friday, January 6, 2023, Hyman Roy Levy, 71, of Jackson, NJ, passed away while surrounded by family and loved ones.  Roy was born in Brooklyn, New York and resided in Jackson for the past 13 years. 

Roy was the beloved husband of 48 years to Susan Levy (nee King); devoted father of five sons and five daughters-in-law, Raymond and his wife Carly, Stephen and his wife Sharon, Daniel and his wife Tara, Kevin and his wife Claire, and Charles and his wife Jaclyn; his sisters Rochelle, Marilyn and her husband Jeffrey; and brother Sam and his wife Valerie.  Roy is also survived by eight adoring grandchildren: Samantha, Alexis, Justin, Jonathan, Thomas, Christopher, Colin and Ada Rae.  He was also a loving uncle, great-uncle and great-great-uncle. 

In addition to being a loving and dedicated husband, father, and “Goombah” and “Pa” to his grandchildren, Roy was also proud of his service for his country in the United States Marine Corps, where he served from 1969 until 1975.

Roy devoted his life to being with his family, including visiting with his sons, attending his grandkids’ sporting events and dance recitals, and traveling with his wife.  His other joys included hosting cookouts, watching football and Yankees games with his sons, going on bike rides, and watching Villanova basketball.  He also enjoyed visiting his sister, brother-in-law, and nieces in Florida.     

Friends and family are invited to visit on Monday, January 16, 2023, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, followed by a service beginning at approximately 4:00pm at Freeman Manalapan Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan.  The burial will be private at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that you make a donation to Tunnels Foundation (https://t2t.org/donate/) or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/).  To leave a condolence or find directions, visit www.freemanfuneralhomes.com.
