Obituary of Gilda Meier

Gilda Meier, 71, of Manalapan, passed away on Sunday, September 11th, 2022, at home. Gilda was born in Brooklyn, New York and resided in Manalapan for 36 years. 

Gilda is survived by her husband of 48 years, Stephen Meier; daughter Cheryl Meier and her partner Beth Lizotte;  daughter Jenna Meier; sister Diane Huneke; brother in law Jimmy Huneke; brother in law John Meier; sister in law Diane Meier; and nieces and nephews Samuel Giovia and his wife Donna, Linda DiPietro and her husband Biagio, Joe Giovia and his wife Eileen, Laura Giovia-Hogh and her husband Kenny, Tricia Molnar and her husband Marty, Samantha Meier, Ashley Meier, Cristina Meier, Danna Meier & fiancé Dom Lorusso, Donna Huneke and her partner Rachael, and Debbie Huneke and her husband Matt; and her “pony dog” Darby, and many close friends that were deeply cherished by Gilda that she considered family. 

Gilda worked at Brooklyn Union Gas Company from 1969-1986, as a senior executive secretary to the vice president of the company. Gilda was always a cheerful, happy, smiling person that had a way to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable. Her hobbies included, Jeopardy, Words with friends, crosswords/fill-ins, the library, the yankees and most especially Disney World. She also had a secret love for certain horror/suspense movies. Her biggest love was to put others first and always love and take care of everyone she came across in her life, and never forget a special occasion in anyone's life. 

Friends and family are invited to visit on Friday, September 16th, from 5:00pm to 9:00pm, at Freeman Manalapan Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan.  A funeral liturgy will be held at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church on Saturday September 17th at 10am.
