I have so many memories of my Aunt. She was always present in my life. We celebrated countless holidays, birthdays, special occasions and milestones. I had the blessing and privilege of being able to travel with Betty over the years. There were even a few trips when it was just the two of us. In 1997, Betty took me to California and we traveled all around the state. It was my high school graduation present from her. It was somewhere I always wanted to go and she made that happen. We had a wonderful time and made countless memories.
In 2005, Betty treated my Mother and I to an amazing trip. We went to Siderno in Calabria for two weeks, and then boarded a cruise ship for two weeks on a Mediterranean cruise. It was my favorite vacation of all time and because of Betty I was blessed to have such an amazing experience that some can only dream of. In 2007, Betty and I went to London for four days and then boarded a cruise ship for a 12 day Scandinavian vacation. Again, another amazing opportunity Betty allowed me to have and awesome memories were made.
At age 12, Betty taught me how to type on a typewriter. The skill of typing would prove to be extremely beneficial and to this day, each time I type something, I think of Betty and the weeks of typing lessons we shared together as I eventually mastered the skill. This was her specialty as a teacher at Washington Irving High School where she taught secretarial studies.
As kids, she took us bowling and we played miniature golf. I remember bike riding in our neighborhood and roller skating in her basement. I could go on and on about all of the wonderful and beautiful memories we shared. I will miss you Betty you were loved and a big part of my life. I seek comfort in the fact that you are no longer suffering and you are in God’s kingdom where you can enjoy and get back to doing all of the things you loved here on earth. May you Rest In Peace Zia Bettina. I know one day we will meet again.
Love,
Lisa

I will always remember Betty as my dear sweet cousin. Always present at holidays and special occasions, enjoying our family. My earliest memories were going to Betty’s Brentwood house, on long summer weekends, where I idolized my young adult cousin. We would sit by the pine trees and mulberry tree, and enjoy reading books side by side on the lounge chair. Sometimes, if I was lucky, Betty would let me “style” her hair. As an adult, I shared my love of gardening with Betty. We would enjoy our conversations about our flower gardens, and Betty would always give me good advice. I always enjoyed hearing about her travels and adventures. I pray that Betty has a peaceful journey to heaven. I will miss Betty and her gentle presence very much.
