William H. Neubeck, 84, of Freehold Township, NJ passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2022 at home.

 Mr. Neubeck was a newspaperman for 47 years, the last 21 of which were spent at The Asbury Park Press. Prior to that he was managing editor The Norwalk Hour in Norwalk, Conn., and before that the editor of The New Jersey Herald in Newton, NJ. Before that he was editorial page editor of The Atlantic City Press, a copy editor on the Boston Evening Globe and editor of The Crossroads Chronicle in Vandalia, Ohio. He began his career as a police reporter for The Trenton Times in New Jersey and subsequently was the Times’ Burlington County Editor and night city editor. William was a member of the New Jersey Press Association and a former president of the New Jersey Associated Press Managing Editors organization. He also belonged to the American Society of Newspaper Editors.

In 1980 and 1981, he served as a Pulitzer Prize juror. Since 2009, Mr. Neubeck has been a member if the Advisory Board to the Salvation Army’s Red Bank Corps.

 William is survived by his fiancée Dr. Patricia Weiss and her sons Gregory Weiss and Christopher Todd Weiss.
