Obituary of Dorothy Patricia Quintiliani

Please share a memory of Dorothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Dorothy Patricia Quintiliani passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, April 18, 2022 at the age of 93. She was born in New York, NY on June 7th, 1928 and was raised by her mother, Mariah Benoit. As a young woman she met her love, Solino Quintiliani. They married and began a family. Before too long, their apartment on Flatbush Ave in Brooklyn became too small so she and "Sonny" and her family of 4 children moved to Old Queens Blvd, in Manalapan New Jersey where they raised 3 daughters and a son. She accepted a secretarial position at Washington Forge in Englishtown, New Jersey and later she worked for 3M in Freehold where she eventually retired. "Dotty" loved her new home and life in New Jersey. A city girl turned Jersey girl, became familiar with the rural countryside by taking long drives on the country backroads. She especially loved her life with Sonny as they worked hard, raised a family and became members in the brand new community of Manalapan. Dotty had a passion for music as she loved to sing to Engleburt Humperdink and Jimmy Roseli albums while dancing with Sonny in the living room. And they both loved dining out, especially Chinese food! Dotty's life changed dramatically in 1985 when she tragically lost her husband of 39 years to cancer. She decided to make a change and move to the community of Surry Downs in Freehold, New Jersey where she lived for 35 years. An unexpected pleasure came along in the form of a wonderful companion by the name of John Piro who was by her side and they cared for each other for the remainder of her life.

She was predeceased by her husband Solino Quintiliani and her daughter, Donna Quintiliani. She had three children and their spouses, Sharon and Christopher Cosby of Woodland Hills, CA; Patricia and Paul Davidoski of Santa Cruz, CA; and Daniel and Tobi Quintiliani of Palos Verdes, CA; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

All who knew Dotty are welcome to celebrate her life with family and friends on Wednesday, April 27th at Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main St. Freehold, NJ 07728. Visitation will be 9am-10aam. A Funeral Liturgy be held at 10:30am at Saint Rose of Lima Church, 16 McLean St. Freehold, NJ 07728, followed by burial at Saint Rose Cemetery, Freehold.
