Obituary of Catherine Pergola

Catherine Pergola, 98, of Manalapan, passed away on Tuesday, February 22nd, 2022, at home. Catherine was born in Brooklyn, New York, and resided in Manalapan for 24 years. Catherine proudly served her country in the U.S. Navy in WWII from 1944-1946.  During her service in the Navy, she was a communications specialist, working on military code-breaking for enemy interception. Catherine loved being around her children and grandchildren, especially during holidays and special occasions at restaurants.  She loved playing cards, especially poker. She also loved playing mahjong and going to Atlantic City.  Catherine enjoyed watching her soap operas and game shows.  She was a long-time parishioner at St. Thomas More Church in Manalapan, as well as a member of the Christian Neighbors & Friends at Covered Bridge. 

 

Catherine was predeceased by her husband Lawrence; and siblings Genevieve, Frank and Joseph.  She is survived by her children Frank, Antoinette, Robert and Cathy; siblings Rosalie, Dorothy, Beatrice, and Lawrence; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. 

 

Friends and family are invited for a memorial visitation on Sunday, February 27th, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm, at Freeman Manalapan Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan.  A memorial service will be held at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Manalapan on Monday, February 28th at 10:00am.
