Obituary of Lillian Lee Lum

Lillian Lee Lum, 92, of Glen Rock, NJ, passed away on February, 4, 2022, at Hackensack Meridian Health. Lillian was born in Brooklyn, New York, where she met her future husband, Shear Mee, who was a sailor in the Merchant Marines.  She has resided in Brooklyn, NY, Flemington, NJ, Scottsdale, AZ, Princeton Junction, NJ and finally Glen Rock, NJ.  Lillian has owned 2 businesses then finally worked as food service manager at Hunterdon Medical Center before retiring.

Her love of family and the giving of herself to family was Lillian’s hallmark.  Willful and strong was Lillian’s character, while loving and selflessness was her virtues. She had a great love of her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a very smart and practical matron, but always generous and forgiving.  Not one of us in her family can deny, she touched our lives in such meaningful ways.  Lillian was always a giver, who would never ask for anything in return.  But she would practically never refuse chocolate, or more recently caviar on fresh oysters, as these may be her weaknesses, only superseded by the smiles of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lillian was predeceased by her husband Shear Mee; and her sons Philip and David;  She is survived by her son Edward and Sylvia; daughter Laura and her husband Henry and daughter in law Dawn. Lillian has 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.  Of her many siblings, she is survived by her sister, Jessie.

Friends and family are invited to visit on February, 19, 2022, from 10:00 am to12:00 noon, with a funeral service at 11:30 am, at Freeman Manalapan Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan. Interment will follow at Forest Green Park Cemetery, Morganville.
