Obituary of John L. Statesir, Sr.

John L. Statesir, Sr. 89 of Freehold, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold Twp.  He was born in Freehold and was a life-long resident.  John graduated Freehold High School Class of 1949.  He served in the Korean War’s Third Division and was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

Mr. Statesir farmed for 45 years as a managing partner at Clayton Farms in Freehold Twp.   He was a member of the Reformed Church of Freehold for many years and was member and past President of the Freehold Township Lions Club.  After retirement he enjoyed summers in Maine and Point Pleasant Beach. 

John loved boating, fishing both fresh and salt water, traveling, reading and being with family and friends.  In later years, he became a philanthropist, donating the Statesir Cancer Center at CentraState Medical Center.  He worked on some projects at the Reformed Church of Freehold and many other various programs.

 

Mr. Statesir was predeceased by his daughter, Carol Jean Statesir.  He is survived by his wife Audrey, nee Clayton, and two sons, Richard A. Statesir, MD and his wife Georganne and John L. Statesir and his wife Nancy; and a brother William A. Statesir Jr.

A visitation will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021 from 10:00am – 12:00 pm with the funeral service starting at 12:00 pm at the Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main Street, Freehold, NJ 07728.  Interment will be private.
