I met Phil in the winter of 1973, after I moved to Freehold NJ. There was a group of people that got together to talk on CB radios in the evenings and I listened to them for awhile before joining the conversation. They sounded real nice and I talked with them each evening for awhile before we arranged to get together and meet. That’s where I met Phil. We ended up being friends for 47 years. We stayed in touch even after I moved from New Jersey to Utah. Jerry Ham has mentioned all the things we did as a club, so I won’t mention them again, but we did have some real good times together. Phil will be missed.

I remember Phil from the early 1970's when we formed a CB radio club during the gas shortages. We took turns meeting at different member's houses finally started meeting at the Olde Silver Tavern for beer & pizzas. We were on the air talking every day & night. We had a great deal of fun teasing each other & talking about the next radio or antenna we were going to buy. When the CB craze died down we stayed on the air and had more fun with picnics & BBQ's at each other house or at Liberty Oak Park as well as the fun Christmas Parties we all attended. We eventually obtained our "Ham" Radio licenses and were able to talk on 2 meters & use the repeaters, before cell phones took off. We ventured into 10 meter band and talked locally as well as around the world. Phil started a radio net on Sunday evening that was called the Monday Morning Net. We continued in this hobby with Phil running the Net even as members moved away or passed away. After almost 50 years Phil is now running that Great Radio Station in the Sky and holding QSO's with former members, Valley Forge, Oregon Transplant, Chow Hound & others. Those of us still here will miss Phil & we will all miss the Friday BS sessions at his house. His love of baseball and foundness of beer will also be missed. If I can find some old photos on my laptop I'll try to upload them. In the meantime I wish you 73's good old buddy.
