Obituary of Leon E. Schaefer

Leon E. Schaefer, 71, of Marlboro Township, passed away on November 28, 2014 at home with his family. Born in Newark, he lived in North Arlington before moving to Morganville in 1971. He was a communicant of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, Marlboro. Leon has owned and operated Schaefer & Sons in Marlboro since 1971. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and was the proud owner of the vessel "Judy Lee" docked at the Crystal Point Yacht Club, Point Pleasant. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judith; his two children and their spouses, Russ and Inna and Lee and Lisa; siblings, Charles, Suzanne and Marilyn; and five grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, Nov. 30, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Gabriel's Historic Church, Marlboro. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
