Obituary of Virgilio Luna Maldonado

Virgilio Luna Maldonado, better known as Bege and beloved Pop-Pop, 64, of Jersey City, New Jersey, passed from this life into eternal life on Friday, March 26th, 2021. Bege was born on January 26th, 1957 in Puerto Rico, son of Ana Baez (deceased). His early years were spent in Newark and most of his life in Jersey City, New Jersey. Bege is survived by  his loving wife of forty seven years, Mary and together they raised their children, Virgilio Maldonado, spouse Nohely Maldonado, Candace Martinez, spouse Charlie Martinez, and David Maldonado, spouse Julieann Maldonado.  Pop-pop is survived and beloved by his grandchildren, Madison, Ava, Dillon, Emma, Sophia, Skylar, Everly, and Bea. Bege is survived by his siblings, Lydia, William, Felix, Edgardo, Anna, Mirna, and Leticia. 

Bege lived for his family. His biggest accomplishments were being a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His stories were captivating and with a sense of humor that could make your laughter burst into tears. He could put a smile on your face and treated everyone with genuine kindness. Bege was always known to lend a helping hand. He always said, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” but should anything need fixing, he was there. Bege was a fighter and he will forever be remembered in the hearts of all those blessed to have known him. 

In keeping with CDC guidelines, masks and social distancing are required. Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, March 31st, 2021 from 9:30-11am at Freeman Funeral Home in Manalapan- 344 Route 9 North and mass to follow at St. Thomas More Church in Manalapan, New Jersey.
