Obituary of Avice Calais
Avice Calais, 97, of Tinton Falls, passed away at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune Twp., NJ on March 8, 2021. She was born in Carteret, NJ and graduated from Montclair College and received her Masters from Columbia Teacher’s College. Avice worked as an Administrator for the Freehold School District. Her distinguished career included starting the Title I Grant Program. She owned many properties and business in the Jersey Shore area including White Sands Manor in Ortley Beach, NJ. Avice developed and owned Countryside Swim and Tennis Club in Marlboro, NJ. She will forever be remembered for her strength and high morals, resilience and loving regards for her friends and family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Henry in 1992; a sister, Myrtle McAleer; and is survived by her two daughters and son-in-law, Valerie Calais of Weston MA; Cheryl and Peter Nesposudny of Forked River, NJ; two grandchildren; Laura Rys and Andrew Nesposudny.
All services are private and under the direction of the Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, NJ. Interment will be at Hazlewood Cemetery in Clark, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seabrook Scholars Fund, 3000 Essex Road, Tinton Falls, NJ 07753.
