Obituary of John M Keane Sr.
John M. Keane Sr., 87, of Manalapan passed away peacefully on Saturday February 27th. 2021. John was born in Brooklyn, New York and resided in Manalapan for 30+ years. After service in the United States Navy, John served with the NYC Transit Police Department retiring as a Sergeant and then continued with a career in corporate security. He received his Masters Degree from Long Island University.
John loved many things, he was devoted to the Catholic Church, was a master wood worker, an avid golfer and a voracious reader and book collector. John loved music and was seemingly able to become skilled at anything he tried. Recently teaching himself to play the piano and ukulele.
He was a devoted and doting husband for 57 years to his wife, Arlene who predeceased him in December 2019. He is survived by his son John Jr. and his wife Marianne, his daughter Peggy and her husband Rich, grandchildren, Kelley, Bridget, Zack, Jake and his wife Erin.
He is also predeceased by his brothers Jimmy (Rosanne), Thomas (Pat)and Juney (Joanne) and survived by his sisters, Margie (Kevin), Patsy (Tommy), Barbara (George) and Kathleen (Don) as well as many adoring nieces and nephews.
In keeping with CDC guidelines, masks and social distancing are required. Friends and family are invited to visit on Sunday, March 7, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, at Freeman Funeral Home Manalapan-Marlboro, 344 Route 9 North. A funeral liturgy will be held at Our Lady of Mercy R. C. Church on Monday, March 8, 2021 at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
