Obituary of Lorenzo Gambino

Please share a memory of Lorenzo to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Lorenzo Gambino, 83, of Brooklyn, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 23, 2021. Lorenzo was born in Torretta, Italy on September 15, 1937 and resided in New York for 55 years. He was employed as a Laborer for Local 79 and later spent over 20 happy years with his family in retirement.

Lorenzo was predeceased by his parents, Rosario and Giovanna Gambino; his wife of 53 years, Marie; his beloved daughter, Janine; and his brother, Salvatore. He is survived by his son, Rosario; his three granddaughters, Briana, Julia, and Jessica; his sister, Anna; and his brother, Calogero.

Lorenzo’s first priority was always family, and his greatest joy came from speaking and spending time with loved ones near and far. Even the shortest phone calls with family members were moments he cherished. Lorenzo was also fond of nature and could often be found tending to his garden, bird watching, or lounging outdoors on a warm sunny day. Other pastimes he enjoyed included hunting, caring for his animals, and cooking delicious Italian meals from his childhood for his family. Friends, neighbors, and family alike remember Lorenzo for his friendly and generous spirit, as he always greeted those around him with a big, welcoming smile and would be the first to lend a hand to anyone in need. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.

Friends and family are invited to visit on Sunday, February 28, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, at Freeman Manalapan - Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North. In keeping with CDC guidelines, masks and social distancing are required. A funeral liturgy will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Monday, March 1st, 2021 at 10:00 AM.
