Obituary of Beatrice Dermer

Please share a memory of Beatrice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that the Dermer family announces the passing of Beatrice Dermer on February 12th, 2021.   Beatrice was born on July 24th, 1929 and was 91 years old.

Beatrice will always be remembered as the dedicated wife of a half century to Burt, mother to sons Michael, Daniel and his wife Alyse, "Aunt Bea" to nieces Sandra and Marla, nephew Steve and Grandma Bea to Reyna and Brendan.

Beatrice was predeceased by her husband Burt, and sisters Flo and Ruth, brother Jack and mother Dora.

From her roots on Jerome Avenue in the Bronx, to her longtime home in Freehold New Jersey to her latest home in Red Bank,  Beatrice touched the souls of many.

Born during the Great Depression, living in her early years through World War II, and working from the age of 16 to support her family, Beatrice was a woman of unique independence and spirit. She turned that spirit to a life of selflessness - giving not only to her family, but to countless charities including Hadassah, the Smile Train, Autism Rescue Mission, and Dermer Dreams.  In addition to the charities, there was no one who crossed Bea’s path where she did not open her arms and lend a helping hand.

A gathering will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2021 from 9:15 to 9:45 am at the Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East MainStreet, Freehold, NJ  07728.   A Prayer Service will be held at 9:45am.  Interment will follow at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery in Iselin, NJ.  To leave a message of condolence, or find directions, please visit our website at www.freemanfuneralhomes.com.  Due to CDC Guidelines, masks and social distancing are required.
