Obituary of Carmen Colon
The world lost a beloved mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, Carmen E Colon, on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2020. Carmen was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico on April 13, 1944 and moved to Freehold Borough at the age of 17, where she remained a lifelong resident. She was an avid parishioner of St. Rose of Lima, Freehold.
Family was Carmen’s greatest joy. She was a master cook who ensured no one in the neighborhood went hungry. She could often be found at the stove, cooking her famous arroz con grandules, pasteles and alcapurrias. Carmen was a woman of great faith with a generous and stoic spirit. She exemplified the role of devoted mother and grandmother - her love was unwavering and unconditional. Carmen was “everyone’s” mom and was truly beloved by all who knew her.
Carmen is survived by her children Jorge “Kato” Badillo, Mildred Badillo, Carlos Badillo, Gilberto Badillo, Noemi Badillo, Leyda Badillo and their loved ones David Nieves Sr. and Tonya Garcia. Her grandchildren Dominic Badillo, Miguel Badillo (w. Sharon Badillo), David Nieves Jr, Gilberto Badillo Jr, Gabriella Mercado Badillo , Vito Badillo Angelique Badillo and Gianna Badillo along with her great-grandchildren Gabriel, Christian, Adrienne and Isabella .Her siblings Monseratte Colon, Leonor Garcia, and Ana Colon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jorge Badillo Sr and son Miguel Antonio Badillo both her parents, and her siblings Ramon and Isabelino Colon, Alejandra Lopez, and Sylvia Colon.
A Funeral Service in memory of, will be held on 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm Wednesday, December 2, 2020. Service at 12:30pm at the Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main Street, Freehold, NJ 07728.
