Obituary of Janet Spaloss
Janet Spaloss passed away on October 15 surrounded by her family after a valiant battle with leukemia. She was born in Neptune on October 18, 1959 and grew up in Freehold, NJ. A graduate of Freehold Boro High School in 1977, she went on to marry her husband, George, of 39 years and start a family in Jackson. Throughout her life she held various jobs, starting at 4-H, Mattel and, being a book enthusiast, Barnes and Noble. Janet loved the beach, Bruce Springsteen, and most of all living life to the fullest. Her smile filled the room with sunshine and her most treasured times were those spent sharing drinks, memories, and laughs with her large family. Janet always put everyone else before herself, showing her selflessness through thoughtful gestures, words, and gifts. She made friends everywhere she went and will continue to be an inspiration to those lives she touched. One of her greatest joys was becoming a grandmother and she will forever be adored by all those who loved her.
We take comfort in knowing that Janet was welcomed with heavenly arms from her mother and father, Joseph Herbert Layton and Sophie Layton as she left this world. She leaves behind her sisters and brother; Mary Ann Callahan, Joseph Layton and his wife Lorri, and Nancy Dmyterko and her husband Michael; a devoted husband; George Spaloss; their three children, Ashley Neville and her husband Bradley, Nicholas Spaloss and Matthew Spaloss; and two young granddaughters, Henley and Peyton Neville; as well as nieces, nephews, and many friends whom loved her.
In spirit of her fun-loving attitude, please come dressed casually to pay respects. Visitation will be held from 10am to noon on Tuesday, October 20 at Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main Street in Freehold, NJ followed by a funeral service at Saint Rose of Lima R.C. Church, 16 Mclean Street, Freehold, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in Janet’s honor.
