Obituary of James Vavas

James Vavas, 86, of Staten Island passed away on October 15, 2020 at Staten Island University Hospital North, Staten Island.   He was born in New York City and was a lifelong resident of Staten Island.  James was a United States Army veteran serving from 1959 to 1963.  Before retiring, James was a mechanic for the New York City Transit Authority in Staten Island. James enjoyed trips to Atlantic City with friends and taking daily long walks.  He also enjoyed watching sports. Jimmy was loved by all of his family and friends, he will be greatly missed.

He is predeceased by siblings; Jean Sideris, Anthony Vavas, George Vavas, and Tula Roschbach.
James is survived by his sister Dorothy Thompson and many nieces and nephews.
