Obituary of Francesca Ann Bovasso
Francesca Bovasso, 71, of Somerset, NJ passed away at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, in New Brunswick on Sunday, September 27th 2020. Francesca was born and raised in Manhattan and was a resident of New Jersey for more than 40 years.
Francesca loved people and culture. She was philanthropic, empathetic, and curious. She truly believed that people were inherently good and that being kind to one another was paramount. Never one to rest just on her words alone, Francesca donated money and her time to multiple charities throughout her entire life.
Francesca was happiest when around her family. She gave of herself to them however she could. From small gestures like cooking for the entire family, to volunteering years of her life to care for ALL of her grandchildren to help her children’s young families. Giving is what she did.
Francesca was the kind of mom kids adored. Friends were always welcome over the house. The more the merrier. She was always quick to whip up a meal, usually served with some life advice. As a devoted wife to Richard for almost 50 years, Francesca always put his needs in front of her. He, of course, did the same for her.
As the matriarch of the extended family she was entrusted with being the steward of traditions, the keeper of the family anecdotes, keepsakes, and recipes. She was the glue that kept a growing family together. She just wanted to know how you were doing and always reminded you to keep in touch.
Francesca loved to read. From romance novels to historical texts, she always had a book in progress. Art, history, languages - she embraced them all. She enjoyed learning about people and their traditions. She loved to test her knowledge while watching Jeopardy.
Her worldview was one that bears repeating; love yourself, your family and your neighbors. No exceptions. She will be missed.
She was predeceased by her husband Richard, father Francesco, mother Rosaria; and survived by her daughter Stephanie and son in law Sean; son Christopher and daughter in law Julianne; sister Cynthia and brother in law Joseph; brother Charles and sister in law Marie; grandchildren Jackson, Dylan, Emily, Anna, and Andrew.
Services have been entrusted to the Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main Street, Freehold. All arrangements are private. As a gesture to Francesca’s good will and empathetic spirit the family asks that in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to her cherished St. Jude: https://fundraising.stjude.org/site/TR/GiftFunds/GiftFunds?px=6773374&pg=personal&fr_id=39300
