Obituary of Mary E Hickey
Mary Ella Hickey, 93,(nee) Valestin formerly of Maplewood, NJ. and moved to Freehold in 1999, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2020, at Gateway Care Center 36 years to the day that her husband, William Hickey passed. Mary was born in Newark, New Jersey and resided in Freehold for 21 years. Mary was a Registered Nurse and graduated from Jersey City Medical Center in 1948 where she then met her best friend and later her sister-in-law Bette. Mary did her residency at Georgetown University and was then employed as a Nurse for various hospitals until her last job at Jobe Haines in East Orange, NJ, as a Director of Nursing at the Adult Day Center at the Skilled Nursing Facility.
Mary is survived by her daughter Patricia Ferrara and her sons Thomas Hickey and David Hickey. Grandchildren: Jennifer Ferrara, David Hickey, Dana Hickey, Megan Hickey and Joseph Ferrara. She is also survived by Great Grandchildren; Alaina, Cache, Maci Mae and Ella Rae. Mary was a compassionate and caring person always smiling and she was a devoted women to her entire family and will be dearly missed."
