Obituary of Ellen Harriet Cutrone
It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ellen Cutrone on April 26, 2020.
Born on July 27, 1946 in Brooklyn to Paula and Sol Andacht, Ellen was raised in Far Rockaway, Queens with her older sister Bobbie. In her younger days she loved going to the beach with her boyfriend Phil and hanging out in the schoolyard with her best friend Laura. She won the prestigious Stenography award and graduated from Far Rockaway High School.
She went straight to work and loved getting dressed up and wearing high heels. One of her many jobs was working for a shipping company for a high end sea captain. For many years she also worked as a secretary in Manhattan, she loved NYC.
Ellen moved back to Canarsie, Brooklyn and then in 1968, Marcy was born. As a single parent Ellen became a devoted mother and Marcy was the princess of the family. Living with her parents and their help, when Marcy was about 5 years old she took a job as an office manager at Pace Photography on Flatlands Avenue. What started out as a small business grew to be one of the most high end studios around; Ellen was a huge part of that. She worked there for many years and loved her job and took so much pride in what she did. Her coworkers became like family.
She loved food but it had to be GOOD food. Anything made of dark chocolate, a good ribeye, lobster, Blueberry pie with chocolate ice cream, and hot fudge sundaes were her favorites. She enjoyed watching TV and listening to 50’s and 60’s music. Her favorite song was “A Million To One” by Jimmy Charles. She loved the movie From Here to Eternity and had a big crush on Paul Newman and James Dean. But most of all her favorite thing to do was spending time with Marcy, Billy, Lindsay and Matt.
She is survived by her loving daughter and son in law Marcy and Billy D’Eredita, her grandchildren Lindsay and Matthew, her sister and brother in law Bobbie and Howie Levine as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Unfortunately due to NJ State Law gathering restrictions a private graveside service will be held at Mount Sinai Cemetery, Marlboro.
A memorial gathering for family and friends to celebrate Ellen’s life will be held at a future time.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in her name to The National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
