Obituary of Vito Mitrione

Vito W. Mitrione, 96, passed away peacefully at Jersey Shore Medical Center after succumbing to the corona virus on April 21, 2020. Born and raised in Yonkers, NY on October 15, 1923. He then moved to Newark, NJ where he met his wife Yolanda  Ricciardi. Together they lived in Union for 24 years where they raised their Four children before moving to Freehold and residing there for over 36 years. Vito was a US Army Veteran who was stationed in Europe as a medic during WWII. Prior to his retirement he worked as a Forman at the National Manufacturing Co, Inc in Chatham, NJ. His hobbies included reading history books and watching old classic movies. He was also a handy man, there was nothing he could not fix. He will be remembered for his dapper attire and perfectly combed hair, sweaters, button down shirts and dress pants. He was a friendly face around Freehold and enjoyed the company of chatting with people as he was a regular at Dunkin Donuts and The Freehold Raceway Track. Most of all he always enjoyed a good meal and being surrounded by family.

Vito is predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years Yolanda Riccardi-Mitrione, his brothers Anthony and Frank Mitrione and sister Angie Durski. He is survived by his sister Josephine Ludovico and husband Lou, and four children: Michael Mitrione and wife Sylvia, Sandra Latona and husband Leonard, Kim Mitrione-Rutigliano, Johnny Mitrione and wife Teresa. Cherished grandfather of Anthony Mitrione, Christina Latona-Anand, Gianna and Victoria Rutigliano,Brianna and Danny Mitrione. Loving great grandfather to Austin and AJ Mitrione, Ayden and soon to be Aaryn Anand.

Due to recommended safety measures caused by the Coronavirus, funeral services are being privately arranged at Freeman Funeral Home of Manalapan. A celebration of Vito’s life will be held at a later date. Letters of condolences may be posted at FreemanFuneralHomes.com
