Obituary of James Keightly Mueller
James Keightly Mueller passed away on October 26, 2019 at the age of 68.
Jim, a 23-year resident of Rumson, NJ was born April 14, 1951 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the son of Warren and Martie Mueller.
Jim grew up on a beautiful country farm in Dansville, Michigan where he developed his lifelong love for animals and nature. Music, sailing, animal rescue, reading and continuous learning were early and lifelong passions.
Jim was a Boy Scout and member of the Honorary Society Order of the Arrow. He earned scouting’s highest rank of Eagle.
A graduate of the University of Texas, Austin; Jim’s activities included playing trombone as a member of the UT Marching Band, member of the Austin Sailing Club and Emergency Medical Technician for the City of Austin.
Following graduation Jim pursued interests in Marine Sciences, studying at the Institute of Marine Sciences in Pigeon Key, FL. Jim moved to New York City to become a Certified Ship Charter Broker, graduating from the State University of NY Maritime College. He pursued his M.S in International Transportation at the State University of NY Maritime College. A competitive sailor, Jim sailed from Bermuda to New York and from New York to Iceland. His sailing pictures were included in Yachting Magazine.
Jim’s interest in Consulting and Supply Chain led him to Managing Partner positions at Cleveland Consulting/Computer Science Corporation and Managing Partner of Supply Chain Strategy and Practice at Accenture. He served on the Board of Directors for the Train of Hope: Friends of Phelophepa.
A Master Mason and member of the Navesink Lodge No. 9 in Red Bank, he served in many leadership capacities. Jim was Worshipful Master in 2012 and continued as a Trustee.
Surviving are his wife of 25 years Connelle Axtmann Mueller; daughters Lauren Anne Mueller of Philadelphia and Leigh Ellen Mueller of New Brunswick; sister Martha-Ann Mueller of Boca Raton, FL and his beloved kitties.
A Masonic memorial was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 3 at the Navesink Masonic Lodge # 9, 152 Maple Avenue, Red Bank.
Honoring Jim’s love of animals, memorial donations may be made to the Monmouth County SPCA, Eatontown, NJ.
